1. What is involved in the treatment and is it safe?
Your treatment will be explained thoroughly and time and care taken to ensure your comfort throughout. You will receive a full consultation to ascertain how we can best achieve your aim and also to ensure the treatment is safe and suitable for you.
Colon Hydrotherapy or irrigation is a simple gentle procedure. During your treatment your modesty is preserved at all times and you are covered by a large soft towel. A small sterile disposable speculum is inserted just 2 inches into the rectum. Warm filtered water is introduced through this tube and will gently flow through your colon. Your therapist will use special abdominal massaging techniques to stimulate the release of stored waste. In turn, this waste will break down into the tube which is connected to a waste pipe so there is no smell or leakage. Following the treatment, a short visit to the bathroom helps remove any residual water and you are able to go about your daily business as normal. No pump is used therefore there is no risk of bowel perforation. Generally, the waste can be quite hard and lodged in the colon needing more than one treatment to sufficiently loosen it. The number of treatments required will vary from person to person depending on diet, lifestyle, chronic illness etc.

The actual treatment on the couch takes 30 to 40 minutes but we always allow at least an hour for appointments, a little longer for first appointment.
A treatment should never be painful or cause severe discomfort. Very occasionally, if someone is very constipated or gassy there maybe some mild discomfort, this however will only last for a few seconds.
4. what should I do before a treatment?
In the days leading up to your treatment, increase your water intake to 1 1/2 to 2 litres. Reduce the amount of fruit and bread you eat. Increase your vegetable and fresh food intake. On the day, ensure you have had something to eat but ideally not during the hour before your treatment.
